Beautiful photos and recommendations are a start. The good choice comes when you also understand how the man behind the portfolio works.
Define what you are looking for
Before asking for quotes, describe in a few words the atmosphere of the wedding, the approximate budget and what you expect from each service. A photographer with a great artistic style may not be a good fit if you prefer spontaneous and understated images. Fit matters more than popularity.
Compare comparable offers
Ask to be clear about what is included: length of service, number of people in the team, deliverables, equipment, transport, assembly and any overtime. Also look at how the provider responds to questions. Clear communication now bodes well for collaboration on the day of the event.
Meet the key people
Talk directly to those who will be next to you on the wedding day. Ask how they handle schedule changes, what information they need to receive, and who they communicate with along the way. If you have several suppliers, appoint a person in advance to coordinate the relationship between them.
You don't need dozens of options. A few well-filtered options, presented with their strengths and limitations, make the choice easier.
